This course is tailored for non-healthcare personnel who wish to empower others within their community or workplace with vital emergency response skills.

Course Overview: The HeartSaver® First Aid CPR AED Instructor Certification Course equips participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively teach the American Heart Association's (AHA) HeartSaver® First Aid CPR AED courses. Focused on lay rescuers, the curriculum covers essential life-saving techniques such as CPR, AED use, and choking relief for adults, children, and infants, and multiple first aid scenarios. Additionally, this course offers an optional module for those interested in becoming a BloodBorne Pathogens Facilitator, further enhancing their instructor capabilities.

Course Objectives: Upon completion, participants will:

  • Be proficient in teaching CPR, AED use, and choking relief techniques to lay rescuers.
  • Understand and apply adult learning principles to engage and educate a diverse audience effectively.
  • Navigate and utilize AHA teaching materials and resources confidently.
  • Organize and conduct HeartSaver® CPR AED courses following AHA guidelines.
  • Optionally, instruct on BloodBorne Pathogens, equipping individuals with knowledge and practices to reduce the risk of infection.

  • Key principles and responsibilities for HeartSaver® First Aid CPR AED instructor candidates.

  • Hands-on practice in teaching and evaluating CPR AED skills.
  • Introduction to BloodBorne Pathogens Facilitator training (optional).
  • Adherence to AHA guidelines and instructor policies.

Certification: Participants who successfully complete the course, including the optional BloodBorne Pathogens module if selected, will receive a HeartSaver® Instructor certification card, valid for two years. Monitoring is required before the card is issued. This certification enables instructors to teach AHA HeartSaver® courses to lay rescuers, enhancing community and workplace safety.

Prerequisites for Enrollment:

  • Interest in teaching First Aid, CPR and AED skills to non-healthcare audiences.
  • A current AHA HeartSaver® course completion card is required.
  • Completion of the HeartSaver® Instructor Essentials online course, accessible for purchase through the AHA website.

Add-On Info All AHA classes require you to have a student workbook. If you have a student workbook from a previous class you may bring it. The Book is included in the class if you do not have one. Digital Student Workbook- This is a digital copy of your student workbook that will be stored and downloadable through the AHA website. If you opt in for a digital workbook you will receive a code and instructions to claim the code on your confirmation email. The Digital Student Workbook cannot be lost as is nice for a quick reference from anywhere! Add a mask, keychain face shield, or Narcan/Naloxone to complete your first aid kit and be prepared for an emergency today.

We also do not limit ourselves to normal business hours offering courses most days and times which include most holidays, night courses (yes, even overnight), and weekends with instructor availability.
